Babiker Awadalla (also Babikir Awadalla , Abu Bakr Awadallah ) (born March 2, 1917 in Giteina , White Nile ; † January 17, 2019 ) was a Sudanese politician and Prime Minister of Sudan from May 25, 1969 to October 27, 1969. At the time of his death in January 2019, he was the oldest surviving former head of state or government worldwide.

biography

Babiker Awadalla graduated from Gordon Memorial College Law School . In 1954 he became speaker of the Sudanese parliament. In 1964 he was appointed President of the Supreme Court (Chief Justice) . During the military coup by Jafar an-Numairi in 1969, Awadalla was appointed Prime Minister of Sudan under armor protection. Since 1972 he lived in Egypt .
