Karl Valentin Order

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Karl-Valentin-Orden is after the Munich comedian Karl Valentin named Carnival Order of the Munich Fasching society Narrhalla gives in January annually since 1973. The first order, however, was awarded in 1967 by the then director of the Karl Valentin Museum , Hannes König. It goes to a personality from politics, art, science, literature or sport and is an award for, in the opinion of Narrhalla , "the most humorous or most profound remark in the sense of Karl Valentin, for a speech or action, for a quote, which became public in public ”. Among the Mardi Gras orders, it belongs to the class of special orders.

Award winners

The previous winners are:

P1 Boxers Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko received awards in 2012 for their commercials.
P2 The award to Heino 2015 was criticized by some well-known humorists.
P3The award to Andreas Gabalier in 2019 has been criticized several times; Among others by the former Mayor of Munich Christian Ude (himself holder of the Karl-Valentin-Order), by the lawyer Gunter Fette, who administers the estate of Karl Valentin, and by Sabine Rinberger, the director of the Munich Valentin-Karlstadt-Museum . The award to Gabalier was defended by the Austrian Vice Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache ; Strache himself has a certain “closeness to National Socialist ideas”. In this context, Fette criticizes: "It is unacceptable that Gabalier is associated with the name of Karl Valentins with his obvious play with fascist symbols such as the swastika on the CD cover, his misogyny and his homophobia."
