Arab News was founded in 1975 as the first English language newspaper in Saudi Arabia by Hisham and Mohammed Ali Hafiz and is the leading source for news reporting from an Arab perspective. It is published by the Saudi Research & Publishing Company (SRPC), a subsidiary of the Saudi Research & Marketing Group (SRMG), and is currently available both as a printed newspaper and on the Internet.

The printed version of Arab News is also published in Bahrain , Europe , Kuwait , the Middle East , North Africa , Oman , Qatar , Saudi Arabia , the United Arab Emirates, and the United States . According to the figures on the company website, the world edition was around 50,000 copies in 2004.

The company is based in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. Khaled Al-Maeena was the long-time editor-in-chief, and Mohammed Fahad Al-Harthi was editor-in-chief of Arab News since January 2013. He was replaced by Faisal J. Abbas in September 2016.

Arab News has published an online Pakistani edition under the name ARAB NEWS Pakistan Edition as part of the planned ongoing global and digital expansion of the newspaper in 2018 .
