Mirotworez , also transcribed as Myrotworez , ( Ukrainian Миротворець, scientific transliteration Myrotvorecʹ , pronunciation [mɪrɔ'tvɔrɛt͡sʲ] , German peacemaker ) is a Ukrainian website . It is the web presence of the non-governmental organization Zentr Mirotvorets (Центр «Миротворець», Center “Peacemaker” ) and has connections to the Ukrainian domestic intelligence service SBU as well as the Ministry of Interior of Ukraine.

According to its own account , the Mirotvorets Center is a “ center of research into signs of crimes against the national security of Ukraine, peace, humanity and international law ”. It also offers " information for law enforcement agencies and special services regarding pro-Russian terrorists, separatists, mercenaries, war criminals and murderers ".

On the website under a tab called "Tschistilische" (Чистилище, purgatory ) personal data of people are published, who are viewed by the operators as "enemies of Ukraine". She gained international fame in the case of the murder of opposition activists Oles Busyna and Oleh Kalashnikov . Both were entered in the “ purgatory ” with their full addresses and one or two days later they were gunned down in front of their respective houses.

A scandal broke out in May 2016 when Mirotvorets published over 4,000 names, telephone numbers and emails of domestic and foreign journalists who had reported from eastern Ukraine . The OSCE and the CPJ expressed concern.

history

Members of Mirotvorets in February 2015

The center of Mirotvorets began to develop in the summer of 2014 as a result of the ongoing war in Ukraine . It was founded in December of the same year as a project by the Ukrainian NGO Narodnyj Tyl (Народний Тил, roughly the National Home Front ). This is a non-profit organization that supports the Ukrainian military with donations in kind (e.g. medical equipment). Heorhij Tuka, who was appointed governor of Luhansk Oblast by President Petro Poroshenko on July 22, 2015, is co-founder and head of Nardodnyj Tyl . Poroshenko said literally: [...] “ I emphasize again: He is a new person with an impeccable reputation, with intolerance towards corruption, with new thinking, with modern non-standard decisions and above all - with Ukraine in the Heart. This is Heorhij Tuka. “On April 29, 2016, Tuka was removed from office by the President and appointed Deputy Minister for Affairs of Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons that same day . In 2015, the Peacemaker Center had around 250 members who lived both in and outside Ukraine. The director of the organization is Roman Sajzew, a former employee of an SBU office in Luhansk Oblast. Since its inception, Mirotvorets has repeatedly published information about foreign citizens who are fighting or fighting on the side of the separatists in Ukraine . Among other things, this led to Bulgarian authorities launching criminal proceedings against Georgi Blisnakov, a Bulgarian citizen, in early 2016 . Similar steps have been considered against at least four other people.

Controversy

On April 14, 2015, the Euromaidan opponents Oles Busyna and Oleh Kalashnikov were entered on Mirotworez by an author with the pseudonym "404" under the tab " Purgatory ". These entries contained descriptions and the full addresses of the two opposition activists. In Busyna's case, a cell phone number was also listed. Shortly thereafter, Kalashnikov complained about death threats he had received as a result of the publication. On the evening of April 15 and noon on April 16, the government critics were gunned down in front of their respective homes in Kiev .

Shortly after the murders, the following messages were posted on Mirotworez's Twitter account:

  • For the successful completion of the assignment placed on him, the agent“ 404 ”was awarded an extraordinary title and a valuable gift today. "
  • "Agent" 404 "has again distinguished itself. For the successful completion of today's fight assignment he will receive a short vacation. "

A few days after the shootings, the website's operators claimed that journalist Busyna's details were not released until after he was murdered. This happened in the course of a "special operation" with the aim of provoking the " Wata " (derogatory term for pro-Russian people) to look for themselves and their acquaintances on Mirotvorets. By entering your data in the search field of the site, you would reveal them to the center of Mirotvorets. The facility's tweets would have served the same purpose. Site founder Heorhij Tuka said in an interview that Mirotworez's concept would not change after the murders. People suspected of being separatists and terrorists should just go to court. He would also provide the addresses of Boiko , Bondarenko , Chomutinnik and " other filth " if he knew them. In addition, the data of more than 25,000 people are stored on Mirotworez. More than 300 of them would have either been arrested or killed: " Why should I worry about any two“ podonki ” (such as scum, dregs ) who are to blame for the war?"

Gerhard Schröder is also listed on the website. The Federal Foreign Office condemns the side "decidedly".
