The Jiangsu 2500 is a type of container motor ship built by the Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipyard Company in Jiangyin since the mid-2000s .

The Jiangsu 2500 ship type is designed as a full container ship with a deckhouse arranged aft and its own loading gear . It has five cargo holds with a total volume of 47,486.4 m ³ , which are closed with pontoon hatch covers. The cargo consists of three amidships arranged 45-ton electrohydraulic NMF - ship cranes . The ships are set up for the transport of dangerous cargo and have a maximum container space capacity of 2546 TEU . With a homogeneous loading of 14-ton containers , the capacity is around 1900 TEU. Depending on the construction variant, between 400 and 536 connections for refrigerated containers are available.

The ships are propelled by a two-stroke diesel engine with around 21,500 kW output, which acts directly on a fixed propeller . Main engines of the types MAN B&W 6K80ME-C (21,660 kW) and Sulzer 7 RT-FLEX 68 BD (21,490 kW) were installed. The ships reach a speed of around 22 knots . There are also three auxiliary diesels and one emergency diesel available. The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .

Capture of the Pomereia Sky

On October 27, 2018, pirates took eleven crew members of the Pomereia Sky hostage about 60 nautical miles from the port entrance of Bonny . The ship was on its way from Luanda to Onne. Nine crew members remained on board and steered the ship into safe waters after the attack. The kidnapped sailors were released in December 2018.
