The Mearley Brook is a watercourse in Lancashire , England . It arises east of Clitheroe on the west side of Pendle Hill . It flows west and enters the Clitheroe metropolitan area on Up-Brooks Road . It initially continues to flow in a westerly direction before turning south on reaching the A 671 road ( Waterloo Road ). It flows in this direction to its confluence with Pendleton Brook in the south of the city. Before its mouth, water from Mearley Brook is diverted to form a lake.
