Mechtild Schulze Hessing

Mechtild Schulze Hessing (born July 27, 1960 in Südlohn , Borken district ) is a German local politician ( CDU ). She was elected mayor of the city of Borken in 2015.

Life

After attending secondary school, Schulze Hessing completed training as a secretary in 1976 and then worked in various departments in the administration of the Borken district . After completing part-time qualifications for the middle and senior service, Schulze Hessing studied from 1988 to 1992 at the Westphalian Administration and Business Academy in Münster and graduated with a degree in administration. In 1995 she was appointed the first full-time equal opportunities officer in the Borken district. Then she headed the personnel department and the administrative department of the district administrator. In 2011 Schulze Hessing was finally elected by the council of the city of Borken as first alderman and treasurer of the district town.

In the local elections on September 13, 2015, Schulze Hessing stood as a candidate for the CDU, which she had only joined a few months earlier, and the UWG for the office of mayor and won the duel against the SPD candidate Dietmar Brüning in the first ballot at 67 , 78% of the vote. She is the first female mayor of the city of Borken and succeeds the long-term incumbent Rolf Lührmann , who no longer ran for election due to reasons of age.

Schulze Hessing is married to a farmer. She is the mother of two children and lives on a farm in the Borken district of Weseke .
