Rolf Lührmann

Rolf Lührmann (born May 18, 1951 in Münster ) is a German politician without a party . From 1999 to 2015 he was mayor of the city of Borken .

Life

Rolf Lührmann completed his military service after graduating from high school and then studied law. In 1977 and 1979 he passed the two state law exams. He then worked for the district government in Münster and for the Borken district administration . He worked in the direction of the riot police in Selm-Bork and as first deputy for the city of Gescher . After that, he was Officer of the City Ennigerloh , in 1992 finally Lührmann the Council of the city of Borken elected city manager Borken.

Since 1999 Lührmann has been the directly elected mayor of the Westphalian district town of Borken. On October 31, 2007, Lührmann announced his resignation from the CDU . The background for his resignation was a long-lasting rift between Lührmann and the Borken party and parliamentary group leadership over a personnel decision by the mayor. These events and the special meeting of the Borken city council at which Lührmann announced his resignation from the party have since been referred to as the "Borken earthquake".

In the local elections in 2009, Rolf Lührmann ran again as a non-party candidate for the office of mayor and won the duel against the CDU candidate Axel Linke (mayor of Warendorf since 2015 ) with 62.6% of the votes. For the election on September 13, 2015, Lührmann did not run again; as his successor in office, the previous First Alderman Mechtild Schulze Hessing (CDU) was elected.

Lührmann is married and has two children.
