Medal for Rescue from Mortal Danger (Nassau)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The medal for rescuing from mortal danger was donated on February 13, 1843 by Duke Adolph von Nassau and could be awarded to all people who had rescued another person at their own risk. A success in fact was not necessary for an award. The intention or the attempt was enough.

Appearance and wearing style

The round medal made of silver shows the bust of the founder, turned to the left, with the inscription ADOLPH HERZOG ZU NASSAU . The four-line inscription FOR RESCUE FROM RISK OF LIFE can be read on the reverse . Underneath there is a decorated horizontal bar.

The award was worn on a ponceau red ribbon on the left side of the chest.

Others

A monetary award was associated with the award.

If a holder of the medal for rescue from mortal danger to a prison sentence sentenced, it took the loss of the medal itself.
