The medal for outstanding achievements in the economic planning of the German Democratic Republic was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was donated on November 30, 1978 in three stages, bronze , silver and gold . The medal could be awarded for excellent performance and high level of commitment as well as for many years of meritorious work in state planning. However, the maximum number of awards was limited annually. Only 100 medals in bronze, 60 medals in silver and 30 medals in the gold level could be awarded. Incidentally, the medal could only be awarded to individuals involved in state planning and the district and district planning commissions. Appearance and wearing style

The bronze, silver-plated or gold-plated medal with a diameter of 32 mm shows the italic inscription in the center of its obverse : FOR / OUTSTANDING / PERFORMANCE / IN DER / VOLKSWIRTSCHAFTS- / PLANUNG / DER DDR , which consists of two semicircular laurel branches that are crossed at the bottom and curved upwards was enclosed. The reverse of the medal showed the GDR's national coat of arms. The medal was worn on the upper left side of the chest on a 24 × 13 mm wide gold-colored clasp, the hem of which is formed by two vertical middle stripes that are black and red. In the middle of the ribbon was a 10 mm miniature of the state coat of arms of the GDR, which was held in the colors of the awarded level. The interim clasp was of the same quality and also showed the 10 mm gold miniature of the GDR's national coat of arms.
