Anneli Ute Gabanyi
Anneli Ute Gabanyi (born October 18, 1942 in Bucharest , Romania ) is a German political scientist , philologist and journalist .
Life
Anneli Ute Gabanyi comes from a Transylvanian-Saxon family from Sibiu , where she also attended elementary school and the lyceum . She studied English and Romance languages at the Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca . From 1965 to 1966 Gabanyi studied comparative literature at the University of Auvergne in Clermont-Ferrand and from 1979 to 1980 political science at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles . At the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg she did her doctorate in philosophy .
After leaving Romania, Gabanyi settled in Munich , where she first worked as a research assistant at the research institute of Radio Free Europe from 1969 to 1984 , then from 1984 to 1987 as head of the Romanian department there. Between 1988 and 2000 she worked as a research assistant for Romania at the Munich Southeast Institute .
Anneli Ute Gabanyi has lived in Berlin since 2001. Here she worked from 2001 to 2007, first as a scientific advisor to the Science and Politics Foundation (SWP), then as a political scientist since 2008. Her research focuses on the recent history of the Republic of Moldova , its political and economic transformation, its foreign and security policy, as well as questions of the neighborhood and Black Sea policy of the European Union .
