Mederdra ( Arabic المذرذرة, DMG al-Muḏarḏara ) is the capital of one of the six districts in the Trarza administrative region in southwest Mauritania .

Geographical location

Mederdra is located in the south of the country in the southern Sudan zone , 133 kilometers south of the state capital Nouakchott and 49 kilometers from the Senegal border near Rosso .

The 2013 census gave the city a population of 7,421.

traffic

The only paved runway reaches Mederdra from the northwest coming from the direction of Nouakchott. It branches off from the Mauritanian N2 and is 50 kilometers long. After Rosso in the south and R'Kiz in the east, there are only dust slopes .
