Medicago truncatula is a plant from the genus of the screw Klees ( Medicago ).
description
Medicago truncatula , also known as trimmed snail clover , is an annual stem therophyte that reaches heights of growth of 15 to 30 (50) centimeters. The leaflets are (6) 8 to 15 millimeters in size. The crown is 6 to 8 millimeters in size. The pods have a diameter of 7 to 12 millimeters and are more or less hairy on the back. Their (2) 4 to 5 (8) turns are thinner than 2 millimeters. Spines are approximately perpendicular to the plane of the winding, these are only briefly or not furrowed at the bottom. The back seam emerges with a furrow on each side and forms 3 keels.
The flowering period extends from March to May.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 14 or 16.
Occurrence
The species occurs in the Mediterranean area. In Crete it grows on fields, fallow land, ruderal sites, phrygana and sandy coasts at altitudes from 0 to 1100 meters.
