Mediclinic International PLC (formerly Medi-Clinic Corporation Ltd. , in parlance just Mediclinic ) is an international operator of private hospitals and part of the Remgro holding, which is controlled by the family of the entrepreneur Johann Rupert .

In October 2007 the group took over the much larger Swiss private hospital group Hirslanden .

In 2015 Mediclinic acquired a 29.9% stake in the second largest British private hospital group Spire Healthcare from the investment company Cinven and thus became its largest shareholder. 2016 took Medi Clinic through a merger in the form of a reverse takeover in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi domiciled, on the London Stock Exchange -listed Al Noor Hospitals Group , whereby the share of new as Medi Clinic International PLC operating under the name Total group is now trading at initial listing on the London Stock Exchange. The group's headquarters moved from Stellenbosch in South Africa to London. Until then, the company was primarily directed at the JSE listed and since December 1, 2014 the Namibian Stock Exchange .

Worldwide (as of November 2018) 76 hospitals and 29 clinics belong to the company. Mediclinic, as Mediclinic Southern Africa , operates hospitals primarily in South Africa and Namibia (together 55 facilities with more than 8,200 beds), but also in Switzerland (22 facilities with 1,900 beds) and the United Arab Emirates ( Mediclinic Middle East ; 29 facilities with 900 beds).
