Meena Cryle (* 1977 in Überackern as Martina Kreil ) is an Austrian blues singer and musician. In 2013 she was nominated for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the Jazz / World / Blues category.

Life

Meena Cryle was born in 1977 as the third child of a master electrician in a village in Upper Austria . In her musical family, she grew up listening to local folk music and started singing at an early age. When she was 15, she formed a psychedelic blues rock band. After graduating, she worked in a women's refuge in Mozambique and traveled through Europe and the north of the USA. In Vienna she finally signed her first management contract. She formed a band and gave concerts with various artists. She signed to Ruf Records and recorded her first official album, Try Me (2010) , with guitarist Chris Fillmore in Stantonville , Tennessee .

At the European Blues Challenge in Berlin in 2011 she came second out of 16 participating bands. In 2012 and 2013 she released the albums Feel Me and Tell Me , recorded in Berlin . In autumn 2015, the live album In Concert: Live on Tour , which was released in 2017, was recorded at various venues .
