The Maritime National Park Alonnisos-Northern Sporades (short Maritime National Park Alonnisos , Greek Εθνικό Θαλάσσιο Πάρκο Αλοννήσου Βορείων Σποράδων, ΕΘΠΑΒΣ Ethnikó Thalássio Párko Alonnorko Alonnorsou Vorión Greece ) is a national park in Greece . The park extends over 2,220 km² and includes the eponymous island of Alonnisos , a further 6 uninhabited islands, 22 rocky islands and the surrounding marine area . The marine national park, designated by presidential decree in 1992, is one of the largest such areas in Europe.

The terrain is often rocky limestone and there are many caves .
Flora Fauna
The areas near the coast are often overgrown by Neptune grasses , there are many precious corals .
The most prominent inhabitant of the park is the critically endangered Mediterranean monk seal , it finds shelter in the caves of the uninhabited island of Piperi . In addition, wild goats , Eleanor's falcons , Bonelli's eagles , shag , coral gull , steppe gull as well as common dolphin , blue and white dolphin and bottlenose dolphin are native to the park.
tourism
The area is partially developed for tourism and is open to the public, but there are extensive protection zones in which access is only possible for scientific or nature conservation purposes and with approval.
