The aponogeton ulvaceus ( Aponogetons ulvaceus ; latin of Ulva , sea lettuce ') is an amphibious living plant from the family of water ears plants .

description

This herbaceous perennial plant forms a tuber. The leaves are ribbon-shaped and wavy on the edge and grow out of a rosette. The leaf surface is light green. Their height is 40 to 50 centimeters.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 40.

Occurrence

The plant has its natural range in central and western Madagascar .

Aquaristics

Like a whole range of water spikes , this type of plant is also offered in specialist shops for planting aquariums . However, this type of water ear already belongs to the demanding aquarium plants , among other things it requires a period of rest in which the tuber can regenerate. The light requirement of this type is high to very high. It needs water temperatures between 24 and 27 degrees Celsius. The plant's need for carbon dioxide is high, so it is advisable to add up to 20 milligrams per liter of water. It is suitable for planting the background and central zone in the aquarium and can also be used as a specimen plant . Due to its size, the aquarium in which it is maintained should hold at least 200 liters of water.
