Meg Myers (* 1987 in Nashville , Tennessee ) is an American singer-songwriter.

biography

Meg Myers was born in Nashville, but after her birth parents divorced, she moved with her mother and new stepfather, like her mother a follower of Jehovah's Witnesses , again and again within Ohio and Florida. In her youth she taught herself to play the guitar, played in a band with her brother and started making music.

In 2007 she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a music career. She met producer Doctor Rosen, who had worked for Britney Spears and Lady Gaga and signed them. Her first EP, Daughter in the Choir , was released in 2011 . Especially with the song Monster on it , she attracted attention. She gained further popularity by appearing on Last Call with Carson Daly and using her songs on television series such as CSI: NY . The first major success came a little more than two years later with Make a Shadow . She had previously signed with Atlantic Records . The EP's song Desire made it onto the Billboard alternative and rock charts . As a result, she was hired as an opening act for bands like Alt-J , she played larger shows of her own and performed at festivals like Lollapalooza . Her debut album Sorry followed in autumn 2015 . The title song reached the top 20 of the alternative charts again and the album came to number 79 in the official album charts .

Despite the success, she moved away from the major label Atlantic and back to her original home in Nashville. She signed with 300 Entertainment and released her second album Take Me to the Disco in 2018 . While it reached the top 20 in the alternative charts again, it did not get past 182 on the Billboard 200.
