The Mega Fun was one of the first German console games magazines Games tests and came from Wuerzburg .

history

The first edition 1/92 (up to issue 2/93 still as megafun ) appeared as a private publication, followed by a further six editions up to issue 2/93. At that time, these first booklets were still printed in black and white.

In issue 2/93 Ulf Schneider was editor-in-chief and Uwe Kraft publisher. Since the beginning, the game tests have been clearly divided into systems and covered all game consoles of the time ( Super Nintendo , Mega Drive , PC Engine and Neo Geo ) and handheld consoles ( Game Boy and Game Gear ). A clear rating box at the bottom of each test report provided information about the system, manufacturer, region and rating (from 1–100). Graded criteria were graphics, sound / FX and fun. Imports were also tested if games were available in Japan or the USA before the European version.

After a three-month break, Mega Fun 5/93 was the first professionally created edition of the then Nuremberg-based CT Computec Verlag and was printed in color. The editor-in-chief was now Christian Geltenpoth, the deputy editor-in-chief was Uwe Kraft and the chief editor was Ulf Schneider.

The Mega Fun was released from the expiring 8-bit age to the era of the 32-bit consoles . The magazine was published by the now named Computec Media until the last issue 12/2000 .

There were four versions of the magazine's logo: the original "megafun" logo of the not yet professionally published issues 1/92 to 2/93; the first "Mega Fun" logo at Computec-Verlag from issue 5/93 to 11/93 or 12/93 (from issue 12/93 versions with both logos were in circulation).

Structure and structure

Issue 2/93 of Mega Fun was in the sections "News" (news from the scene), "Rumors" (about upcoming games and hardware), "Game test" (the section with the largest number of pages: election of the "game of the month" and award " Gold Game "from 85 points as well as" Don't give this game a chance "under 35 points for fun rating)," Countdown "(top list of the editors and readers) and" Cheat corner "(cheats and passwords). There was also the "Special" section, which contained trade fair reports, for example.

In issue 5/93 the section "Rumors" was replaced by "Scene", "Schummelecke" by "Helpline" and "Countdown" by "Classics". New sections were "MegaMail" (letters from readers to the editors), "FunMail" (funny letters from readers and responses from the editors). The "Preview" has been renamed "Game Over".
