Megapuss is an American band from Los Angeles , California . It can be assigned to the genres anti-folk and lo-fi and represents a so-called supergroup .

history

The band was formed in 2008 by Devendra Banhart and Gregory Rogove and played their first songs in June of the same year at the Hammer Museum in the founding city. Originally, this gig was planned as a "small" debut with a cover of the Tears for Fears song Everybody Wants to Rule the World and some of their own songs, but it became famous for the fact that Banhart's nude pictures were projected on the wall above the band.

The humorous and ironic sound of the lyrics can also be heard in the band's debut album, Surfing , released on October 7, 2008 . The album received average ratings and comments largely because of this mix. So judged the music portal Pitchfork with a 5.9 point rating. The German music magazine Musikexpress judged with the statement that there is “a heterogeneous mish-mash of different types of music to which you can hear its project character”.
