Megumi Fujii ( Japanese 藤井 恵 , Fujii Megumi ; born April 26, 1974 ) is a Japanese mixed martial arts fighter (MMA fighter).

For years she was considered the best MMA fighter in the world and remained undefeated in her first 22 fights. In the final of the women's tournament of the third Bellator season, she had to admit defeat to Zoila Frausto for the first time in her career in October 2010.

She also holds black belts in Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu .

Career

Fujii made her debut on August 5, 2004 against Yumi Matsumoto, which lasted only 40 seconds. Then she won against Erica Montoya. After fights against Ana Michelle Tavares, Misaki Takimoto, Keiko Tama Chan Tamai and Masako Yoshida, she established herself among the top female fighters in the world. She also defeated Cody Welchin at the NFF on March 10, 2007. She won the fight by Armbar Submission in the first round.

On August 24, 2007, Fujii defeated the American Lisa Ward by submission in the first round at a BodogFight event in Vancouver , British Columbia and Cindy Hales and the Korean star Seo Hee Ham at the Smackgirl World ReMix Grand Prix 2008.

In November 2008, Fujii won against Tomoko Morii.

She defeated "Windy" Tomomi Sunaba by armbar submission in the first round of Shooto: Revolutionary Exchanges 3 on November 23, 2009.

On May 6, 2010 it was announced that Fujii would be attending Bellator 22 in June 2010. Fujii won by TKO against Sarah Schneider in the third round. On August 12, 2010, she defeated Carla Esparza by armbar submission in the second round. She also defeated Lisa Ward for the second time with an Armbar Submission .

She faced Zoila Gurgel in the final of Bellator 34 on October 28, 2010 and lost the fight with a split decision.

In the fight against Emi Fujino in World Victory Road Presents: Soul of Fight on December 30, 2010, she won by Unanimous Decision .

Against Karla Benitez at DREAM - Fight for Japan Genki Desu Ka Omisoka 2011 on December 31, 2011 Fujino won with an Armbar Submission .
