Mehboob Ali (born April 10, 1990 ) is a Pakistani athlete who specializes in the 400-meter run and also competes in the 400-meter hurdles .

Athletic career

Mehboob Ali gained his first international experience at the South Asian Games in Guwahati in 2016 , where he won the bronze medal in the hurdles and with the Pakistani 4 x 400 meter relay and was fifth over 400 meters. He qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he was eliminated with 48.37 s in the lead . The following year he won the silver medal with the relay at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku and was fourth in the hurdles. He then retired from the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar in the first round and finished seventh with the Pakistani relay in 3: 11.42 min. He also qualified for the World Championships in London , where he was eliminated with 52.24 s in the preliminary round. At the beginning of September he reached the semifinals of the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat over 400 meters and won the Pakistani relay in 3: 11.40 minutes. The following year he took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time and finished eighth in the relay in 3: 08.87 min and was eliminated in the hurdles with 51.27 seconds in the semifinals.

In 2019 he reached eighth in the hurdles at the Asian Championships in Doha in 50.94 s and was eliminated in the semifinals over 400 meters with 47.61 s. At the beginning of December he won the South Asian Games in Kathmandu in 50.71 seconds and won the bronze medal behind Sri Lanka and India in 3: 08.24 minutes.

In 2015, 2017 and 2018 Ali was Pakistani champion in the 400-meter hurdles and in 2017 with the 4-by-400-meter relay and in 2018 in the 400-meter run.
