Mehmet Akgün (born August 6, 1986 in Bielefeld ) is a former German - Turkish soccer player .
Career
society
The first club of the trained striker , which is very versatile, however, was SUK Bielefeld . He later switched to Arminia Bielefeld's youth . In July 2001 he left his hometown to join the youth department of Borussia Dortmund .
In the 2004/05 season Akgün was part of the professional squad for the first time. He made his Bundesliga debut on October 16, 2004 against VfB Stuttgart . On September 25, 2007 he was used for the second time in the Bundesliga. He was in the starting line-up against Hamburger SV as a right full-back .
Mehmet Akgün moved from Borussia Dortmund to Dutch first division club Willem II Tilburg on January 30, 2008 . The transfer fee was 150,000 euros.
For the 2010/11 season he moved to the Turkish first division club Gençlerbirliği Ankara . Right at the beginning of the season, he had to undergo two operations. So he couldn't play at the beginning of the season. He could only be used at the end of the first half of the season. For the second half of the season he was regularly set up by the new coach Ralf Zumdick and made 18 league matches by the end of the season. In his second season he became an absolute regular player / top performer.
For the 2011/12 season, his contract with Gençlerbirliği ran out. Akgün hesitated to extend the contract in order to take advantage of other offers. On June 1, 2012, his transfer to the traditional Turkish club Beşiktaş Istanbul was announced. He signed a two-year contract.
In spring 2014 he left Beşiktaş for league rivals Kayseri Erciyesspor . For the 2015/16 season he moved to the second division Karşıyaka SK .
National team
Akgün went through the German youth national teams, but was also used once in the Turkish U-17 youth national team.
