Meinrad Eugster (born August 23, 1848 as Josef Gebhard Eugster in Gätziberg near Altstätten , † June 14, 1925 in Einsiedeln ), also called Brother Meinrad , was a Swiss monk who is venerated as a saint .

He learned the tailoring trade and later entered the Benedictine monastery in Einsiedeln as a novice in 1874 . He made his profession on September 5, 1875 . In the monastery he mainly worked as a tailor, then from 1880 to 1916 as head of the tailoring. He died on June 14, 1925 of a stomach ailment. In 1941 his bones were reburied in the abbey church of the monastery and are located on the patronage altar near the chapel of grace. On October 23, 1960, Pope John XXIII. the procedure confirms that he will be beatified . He was considered particularly religiously inspired and, characterized by poor health, lived a simple life, which is why he is still revered in Switzerland. His grave has become a place of pilgrimage .
