Master of the Malchiner Altar is the emergency name of a Low German painter who probably worked in Hamburg in the first half of the 15th century .

The master of the Malchiner Altar got his emergency name from the panel paintings on the outer wings of the Marien Altar carved in the middle part in the brick Gothic town church of St. Johannis von Malchin . The paintings indicate the circle or successor of the master Francke in Hamburg. They were previously associated with the paintings on the outer wings of the high altar of St. Georgen in Wismar as well as the fragments of a crucifixion altar in Rostock's Marienkirche . The connection to the wings of the Dreikönigsaltar from the Rostock Johanniskirche , which was also discussed , was rejected in favor of the master of the Rostock Dreikönigs-Altar .
