A wood sculptor from the late Middle Ages is known as the Master of Waha ( Wal. Maitre de Waha, Maitre du calvaire de Waha, Bel.-nl. Meester van Waha) . The artist, unknown by name, was active in the Famenne region at the beginning of the 16th century . He got his emergency name after his six figures in the place Waha , today part of the municipality of Marche-en-Famenne in the province of Luxembourg in what is now Belgium . In addition to these figures, to be found in St. Stephen's Church there, including a three-part crucifixion group, several other sculptures are attributed to the master, which are in a museum in Marche-en-Famenne.

The Master of Waha is considered to be an important last representative of the late Gothic style in the region, a final testimony to this style before the transition into the Renaissance .

Why and how precisely the medieval, not necessarily rich or ecclesiastically important at the time, Waha wanted to afford such splendid and precious figurative decorations cannot be clarified, but after his naming after the location in more recent times, the master of Waha is there as a timeless sculptor and celebrated an outstanding personality.
