Famenne ( Walloon Fåmene ) is a region in southeast Belgium .

Geographical location

The region lies south of Condroz , east of Fagne and north of the Ardennes . In the Wallonia region , it extends over the provinces of Namur , Luxembourg and Liège . Important cities and communes are Beauraing , Rochefort , Marche-en-Famenne , Hotton and Durbuy .

The uppermost geological level of the Upper Devon , the Famennium , is named after Famenne .
