Meizhou Hakka Football Club (Chinese: 梅州 客家 足球 俱乐部; Pinyin: Méizhōu Kèjiā Zúqiú Jùlèbù;) is a professional Chinese football club currently participating in China League One under license from the Chinese Football Association (CFA). The team is based in the district of Wuhua the city of Meizhou in the province of Guangdong , and its home stadium, the newly built Huitang stadium with a capacity of 30,000. Its current majority shareholders are Meizhou City Government, Meizhou Township Sports Bureau, and Wei Real Estate Development . The club was renamed Meizhou Wuhua Football Club in 2014 . In the official documents of the CFA, however, the old name is still used.
history
Meizhou Hakka FC was founded in January 2013 by former Guangdong Sunray Cave trainer Cao Yang with the support of the Meizhou City Government. Soon he would receive financial support from Wei Jinping , Chairman of Wei Real Estate Development Co. , who was persuaded to invest in the team after Cao Yang described his plans to establish a football center in his homeland, Wuhua County. The roster consisted of local Hakka players and purchased players from other teams in Guangdong Province, including Guangdong Sunray Cave, Guangzhou Evergrande , Shenzhen FC and Shenzhen Fengpeng . In their debut season in the third highest division in the country ( China League Two ), the team finished 5th. In 2015 he was promoted to the second division (China League One).
