Melanie Booth (born August 24, 1984 in Burlington , Ontario , Canada ) is a former Canadian soccer player . The defender most recently played for Sky Blue FC and the Canadian national football team .

Career

Booth made her debut for the Canadian national team on March 1, 2002 at the Algarve Cup against Scotland at the age of seventeen. Canada won 3-0.

She took part with Canada in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and won the bronze medal there with her team.

In the 2013 season she played in the newly founded National Women's Soccer League , the highest American professional league in women's football, for Sky Blue FC . In November 2013, she announced her retirement from professional sport.
