Melbourne Island ( Inuktitut : Qitiqtaryuaq ) is an uninhabited island in the Kitikmeot region of the Nunavut territory, Canada .
It is located on the southwestern edge of the Queen Maud Gulf . To the west of the island are the Minto Islands . Northwest of Melbourne Island is the isthmus of the Kent Peninsula . Victoria Island is north of Melbourne Island .
Melbourne Island has an oval shape. It is covered by lakes and swamps. The area of the island is 381 km².
