Melford Nicholas

Melford Walter Fitzgerald Nicholas (born in St. Johnston in the 20th century ) is an Antigua and Barbuda politician of the Antigua Labor Party . He has been a member of the House of Representatives since 2014 .

Life

Nicholas grew up in St. Johnston. He worked for the Antigua Public Utilities Authority for over 23 years . Politically, he acted as chairman of the Organization for National Development , a party that split off from the United Progressive Party in 2003 and merged with the Antigua Labor Pary after the 2009 general election . Nicholas himself stood in the 2009 general election in the constituency of St. John's Rural East , but only finished third behind Lester Bird and Leon Errol Cort . In the general election in 2014 , he was able to prevail in the constituency of St. John's City East clearly against the incumbent Harold Lovell .
