Melissa Linn Berman Bjånesøy (born April 18, 1992 in Chicago , USA ) is an American- born Norwegian soccer player who plays for IL Sandviken in the Norwegian top series . She is a member of the Norwegian national women's football team , where she made her debut on January 12, 2013 in the game against South Korea.
Career
In 2009 she moved to IL Sandviken , but was not used in the first year when relegated from the highest Norwegian league . After the immediate resurgence, she made her debut on April 10, 2011 at the age of 19 in the highest Norwegian league . She made her first goal in the top division on April 16, 2011 in the 1: 3 defeat against Kolbotn IL , when she scored 1-0 in the 8th minute of the game. With 10 goals in the 2011 season, she helped avoid the relegation of IL Sandviken from the highest Norwegian league .
National team
In 2010 she was appointed to the Norwegian U-19 team. With this team she reached the final of the U-19 European Championship a year later , but lost it 1: 8 against Germany and became vice European champion. With seven goals scored, she was the top scorer in this tournament. Melissa Bjånesøy scored her first international goal in her second international match on January 14, 2013 in a 1-0 win over China, where she scored in the 88th minute. With the Norwegian national team , she took part in the 2013 European Women's Football Championship in Sweden and reached the final, which was lost 0: 1 .
