Menachem Finkelstein , Hebrew מנחם פינקלשטיי; scientific transliteration Menaḥēm Fînqelšṭain , (* 1951 in Tel-Aviv ) is an Israeli officer, currently in the rank of major general in the Israeli armed forces . He was a military prosecutor at the time of the Second Intifada in the so-called war on terror and is a non-fiction author.

Finkelstein was raised Orthodox Jewish and completed his law exam at the Bar-Ilan University in 1976. From 1973 to 2004 he served as an “Advocate General” in the Israeli armed forces and stood out in the trials against targeted killing . In 2003, he decided not to take legal action against the violent death of activist Rachel Corrie . His statement became known: In all the fatality cases we have investigated, there has never been a single incident of deliberate shooting (German: In all deaths that we have investigated, there has never been a single incident of deliberate shooting ).

Finkelstein published several books and essays on Israel's legal position towards terrorism . His most famous work is Conversion. Halakhah and practice , published by Bar-Ilan University Press, Ramat-Gan, 2006.
