The von Mengersreuth family is an old Franconian noble family .

history

The name-giving place is Mengersreuth, today part of the market Weidenberg in the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth . The genealogist Johann Gottfried Biedermann knows the family with multiple mentions from the 14th century, without being able to arrange the individual persons in a family tree. This family gained importance in what is today the municipality of Pullenreuth in the Upper Palatinate district of Tirschenreuth . There they acquired their first property in 1407 with the Hammerguts district Riglasreuth and built a castle. With further owner acquisitions in the area, such as Weihermühle, Lochau, Haselbrunn and Pullenreuth on the right of the Hartbach, they founded a noble Hofmark . Even if the Pullenreuth settlement on the right of the Hartbach is significantly older, its current name Mengersreuth as part of the municipality of Pullenreuth can be traced back to the influence of the Mengersreuthers.

The family was organized in the knight canton of Gebürg . In 1649 it died out.

coat of arms

Siebmacher's coat of arms shows a silver drawbar scale on a red background. The crest shows a three-armed golden object in the shape of a candlestick.
