Menhir of Glomel
The Menhir of Glomel (also called Ar Menhir, Menhir de Ker Sioul or Menhir du hameau du menhir ) stands east of Glomel, southwest of the Côtes-d'Armor department in Brittany in France .
The menhir is 8.5 m high, on average 4.0 m wide and 1.5 m thick. Its dimensions make it one of the heaviest menhirs in Brittany.
The menhir is made of gray granite, presumably of local origin, as one can suspect from the proximity of a quarry. Its weight is estimated at up to 160 tons. One side was edited to make it almost flat. Its flat, square base stands on a granite platform.
The menhir was classified as a monument historique in 1975 .
About 3.0 km away is the also protected menhir of Coat-Couravel .
