Menhir of Poserna

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The menhir of Poserna (also called hare column ) was a prehistoric, probably Neolithic menhir near Poserna , a district of Lützen in the Salzlandkreis , Saxony-Anhalt .

location

It originally stood on the border between Poserna and Kreischau on a burial mound , the grave inventory of which is assigned to either the spherical amphora culture (3100-2700 BC) or the cord ceramic culture (2800-2200 BC), but probably the former leaves. It was later moved to the intersection of the paths from Poserna to Taucha and from Nellschütz to Ranismühle and converted into a signpost .

description

The menhir was made of weathered gray-yellow sandstone and originally had a height of 1.3 m and a width and thickness of 0.33 m each. After its conversion, the menhir was hewn. It now had a square shape and was provided with several inscriptions. A series of letters and numbers as well as a year were carved on the back. Furthermore, several directions were painted on. Waldtraut Schrickel and Hans-Jürgen Beier kept the menhir as preserved in 1957 and 1991, respectively, but in the list of monuments of the state of Saxony-Anhalt from 2016 it is listed as missing.
