The menhir of Rammersweiler is a possible prehistoric menhir in Rammersweier , a district of Offenburg in the Ortenau district in Baden-Württemberg . It was discovered in 1993 during road construction work and was put back up.

Location and find history

The stone is located on the northern outskirts of Offenburg-Rammersweier at the intersection of Brücklesbünd and Moltkestrasse. In 1993 it was discovered during road construction work at a depth of 80 cm. Next to him were two smaller stones, which perhaps belonged to a stone packing in which the menhir was originally set. It was raised again about 10 m from where it was found. The menhir of Bohlsbach is 1.9 km to the northeast .

description

The menhir consists of gray granite , which is located about 2 km to the east in the Brandeck area. It is irregularly shaped and tapers towards the top. Processing traces are not recognizable. The stone has a total height of about 280 cm, 190 cm of which are visible above ground. Its width is 110 cm and its thickness 90 cm. Stone fragments and a broken edge that was still fresh when it was reported testify that it was originally higher.
