The Merck Headquarters Building served as the former headquarters of the US pharmaceutical company Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD). The building is located on the outskirts of Whitehouse Station in the US state of New Jersey . The hexagonal building was built between 1989 and 1990 according to plans by Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo & Associates . When it opened in 1992, the building complex served as the company's global headquarters.

As with many other corporate headquarters designed by architect Kevin Roche , the Merck Headquarters Building is also characterized by its remote location and its integration into the surrounding nature. Roche preferred the idea of a single hexagonal building to an expanded campus , as this would have taken up more floor space and would also have required longer walking distances. Thanks to a dense planting within the building ring, the older trees were to be preserved during the construction work, even the offices on the inside had a view of nature. Roche solved the ubiquitous parking problem at the former Union Carbide Corporate Center by relocating the parking spaces to the inside of the building so that the view from the offices was not obstructed with asphalt parking spaces; when designing the Merck Headquarters Building, on the other hand, he opted for a more expensive underground parking solution. The two-story underground car park can be reached via several access roads. The possibility of expanding the building was also considered. If required later, it should be possible to add further hexagonal building parts to the existing building. However, this option was never used.

In October 2012, MSD announced the relocation of the company headquarters to a location of the then acquired Schering-Plow Corporation in Summit . This statement was put into perspective a year later and the existing location in Kenilworth was presented as an alternative. MSD has been headquartered in Kenilworth since 2015. MSD's former headquarters has been owned by the information technology company UNICOM Global since 2018 .
