Meresanch I is the name of an ancient Egyptian queen of the 4th dynasty . It is not contemporary occupied, but appears only in later inscriptions. It is not clear who she was dating. Some Egyptologists consider King ( Pharaoh ) Huni (end of the 3rd Dynasty ) to be a possible consort.

supporting documents

Meresanch's name appears on a fragment of the Palermo stone , which was made in the 5th dynasty . It can be found above the 6th register of annual event windows, which were intended for King ( Pharaoh ) Sneferu . Another name comes from the (now lost) grave of the civil servant Peher-nefer , in which he titled himself as the “principal administrator of the meresanch estate”. A third mention of Meresanch's name is contained in a graffito from Meidum , which dates back to the 18th dynasty under King Thutmose III. dated and calls for an offering prayer for Meresanch I and Sneferu.

To person

The family circumstances of Meresanch I are largely in the dark. The Palermostein says nothing about who her husband was, since it only ever names the mothers of the rulers listed. Therefore, so far it can at least be assumed that Meresanch I was the mother of Snofru.

Her grave is also still unknown. It may be looking for it in a mastaba that is north of Snofrus Meidum's pyramid .
