Some mastaba structures from the early 4th dynasty are also known :

  • the mastaba no.17, tomb of an unknown prince,
  • the mastaba no.6, the tomb of Rahotep (son of Sneferu ), general and high priest of Re , and his wife Nofret (their superbly preserved statues were found here, which can be admired today in the Cairo Museum)
  • the mastaba no. 16, the grave of Sneferu's son Nefermaat (architect of the Meidum pyramid) and his wife Itet. The so-called “goose frieze” from this mastaba (now in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo) and the artistically valuable, seldom found paste reliefs are famous .

The necropolis continued to be used in the New Kingdom and the later period.
