Merve Büyüksaraç

Merve Büyüksaraç (born June 13, 1988 in Ankara ) is the Miss Turkey of 2006.

Life

Büyüksaraç studied industrial design at Yeditepe Üniversitesi in Istanbul and works in this profession and as a writer. In 2007 she took part in the reality show Buzda Dans . In 2012 she also took part in the reality TV show Survivor Türkiye .

In January 2015 she was interrogated by the Istanbul prosecutor's office, because they are on their Instagram - Page a satirical poem about the Turkish President Erdoğan posted had. The poem with the title "Poem of the Master" is based on the lyrics of the Turkish national anthem and exercises satirical criticism of the president, whose son Bilal is mentioned by name. It was first published in the satirical magazine "Uykusuz" (German: sleepless). After a friend warned her that she might have trouble posting poems like this, she removed it from her Instagram account. She said that she thought the poem was funny and had no intention of offending Erdoğan. The prosecutor said the poem crossed the boundaries of freedom of expression. In the trial before the competent court, she faced imprisonment for one to two years. Büyüksaraç was finally sentenced in May 2016 to thirteen months probation for denigrating President Erdogan.
