Mervyn Stegers

Mervyn Keith Maria (Mervyn) Stegers (born May 4, 1951 in Fareham ) is a Dutch politician. From 2018 to 2020 he was government commissioner for the island of Sint Eustatius . From 2001 to 2016 he was mayor of the Dutch municipality of Tubbergen . He is a member of the Christian Democratic Party of the Netherlands ( CDA ).

Stegers has both Dutch and British citizenship . His father was Dutch and his mother was British. He spent the first years of his life in England. The family later moved to Den Helder , where he continued to grow up.

Before Stegers was appointed mayor of Tubbergen by royal resolution, he was an alderman of Den Helder. From 1988 to 1996 he was a lawyer. Before that he was a teacher at a business school in Den Helder.

Mervyn Stegers is married with a daughter and two sons.
