Meryl O'Hara Wood
Meryl O'Hara Wood (nee Waxman , used Aitken Lister ) was an Australian tennis player in the 1920s.
Career
O'Hara Wood won the women's tennis doubles at the Australian tennis championships (now the Australian Open ) in 1926 and 1927 . She won the first title with Esna Boyd against the duo Daphne Akhurst and Marjorie Cox in three contested sets 6: 3, 6: 8, 8: 6. The following year she defended her title with her compatriot Louie Bickerton against Esna Boyd and Sylvia Lance , this time in straight sets 6: 3, 6: 3.
Life
On August 3, 1923, she married Pat O'Hara Wood , also a successful Australian tennis player.
