Merzak Allouache
Merzak Allouache (born October 6, 1944 in Algiers ) is an Algerian film director and screenwriter .
Life
Allouache studied at the Institut National du Cinéma in Algiers and at the IDHEC film school in Paris . With his debut film Omar Gatlato , he moved thematically between France and Algeria. His films have been presented at numerous international festivals, most recently Tahqiq Fel Djenna (Investigating Paradise) at the Berlinale 2017 . The film won the Ecumenical Jury Prize in the “Panorama” section.
