α Trianguli ( Alpha Trianguli , α Tri ) is a star of the spectral class F6 with an apparent magnitude of 3.4 mag in the constellation Triangulum . It is 63 light years from Earth.

The star bears the historical proper names Metallah , Elmuthalleth or Mothallah (from Arabic رأس المثلث, DMG raʾs al-muṯallaṯ  'tip of the triangle') and Caput Trianguli (Latin for "head of the triangle").

The IAU has the historical proper names on August 21, 2016 Mothallah defined as standardized proper name for this star.
