Metroplex is an American techno label .

The label was founded in 1985 by Juan Atkins . Alongside Transmat and KMS Records, it is considered one of the most important Detroit techno labels of the 1980s and 90s . The plates are sold through the distributor Submerge.

history

The first single No UFO's was released in 1985 and is commonly considered the first techno record. Atkins published on Metroplex under numerous pseudonyms such as Model 500 , Channel One , Kreem (collaboration with Kevin Saunderson ), Triple XXX , Infiniti , Flintstones . Singles by Eddie Flashin 'Fowlkes , Keith Tucker (member of AUX 88 ) and X-Ray (Atkins collaboration with Saunderson and May ) also appeared.

In 1993, “Jazz Is The Teacher” was a cooperation between Atkins and the Berlin artists 3MB ( Moritz von Oswald and Thomas Fehlmann ). Other notable publications include Anthony Shakir (1993 as Shake ), Robert Hood (1996 as The Vision ), Terrence Dixon (1996 and 1997 as Population One ) and DJ Bone (1999).

The last release so far was in 2004. A year later, a 20 Years Metroplex was released on the Berlin label Tresor Records : 1985-2005 entitled retrospective of the label.
