Metropolitan Detention Center

Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) or Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) refers to a number of local detention facilities in the United States prison system .

They are operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons . In particular, detainees on remand are held there, people who have appealed or who have not agreed to a fine ; or prisoners who have already been convicted but are still waiting for the sentence to be announced. After the (final) conviction, the prisoners are transferred to other state prisons, which are also administered by the FBP.

In New York City there is the Metropolitan Correctional Center in southern Manhattan and the Metropolitan Detention Center in the district of Brooklyn . Another example is the Metropolitan Correctional Center, San Diego , with MDCs in Los Angeles , Guaynabo , Puerto Rico, and Chicago .
