The Krywyj Rih tram ( ukr . : Криворізький швидкісний трамвай) is a tram company in the Ukrainian city of Krywyj Rih . It was opened on January 2, 1935 and built in Russian broad gauge . On December 26, 1986, an additional underground tram line was opened, the Krivoy Rog Metro Tram .

history

After the company was idle during the Second World War , it was quickly expanded after the end of the war. 1974 began with the construction of tunnels. At the beginning of the 1990s, 180 vehicles carried 65,000,000 passengers. Since then the economic situation has deteriorated extremely; like many other companies in Ukraine, the company cannot cover its costs through ticket sales. Almost 70 percent of all passengers travel for free by law. Today there are only about 80 vehicles in use and some lines have cycle times of 90 to 110 minutes.

Subway tram

The metro tram called MetroTram consisted of two lines with a total of eleven stops until 2012, four of which are underground. The length of the network was 17.7 kilometers, of which 6.8 kilometers ran in the tunnel. In 2012, the MetroTram lines, which had not been connected to the rest of the tram network, were connected to the tram network at the southern end of the route. On August 11, 2012, line 3 was set up, which runs via this connection beyond Kilzewa (without serving the tunnel station) 1.1 kilometers further to Kilze KMK.
