Metztitlán is a place in the Mexican state of Hidalgo . Metztitlán is the administrative seat and largest place of the municipality Metztitlán . It is located about 80 km north of Pachuca de Soto .
history
Just like the cities of Tlaxcala and Huexotzinco , the Aztecs could never conquer Metztitlán, although they tried several times. When the Spanish conquistadors waged war against the Aztecs, the inhabitants of the city sided with Hernán Cortés .
In 1811 there were two indigenous uprisings in Metztitlán, but they were suppressed.
