history

Just like the cities of Tlaxcala and Huexotzinco , the Aztecs could never conquer Metztitlán, although they tried several times. When the Spanish conquistadors waged war against the Aztecs, the inhabitants of the city sided with Hernán Cortés .

In 1811 there were two indigenous uprisings in Metztitlán, but they were suppressed.
