Mexborough

Mexborough , or Mekesborough until the 18th century , is a small mining and industrial town in the county of South Yorkshire . It has 15,244 inhabitants (as of 2011) and belongs to the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster .
history
In the early Middle Ages , the area was evidently already settled, as evidenced by a well-preserved moth , ie a ring-shaped rampart that lies on an old military road.
Culture
